EC and I came up with a rating scale for the use of the repetitive 'ha' at least a year ago. We clearly should have patented it.
| Well I guess you have to take the lows with the highs.
Last night I came home to my house broken into. They jimmied open the window, and stole my laptop. They rooted through our bedrooms, making a bit of a mess, but luckily we didn't have much else of value in the house. Police came by today and did some fingerprinting, which left a huge mess of that black powder stuff, and though they got some prints from the outside of the window, prints from outside the house are not enough to convict someone. They also apparently broke into a house two doors down, so hopefully the officer will have better luck finding prints there. Even with the prints, though, I was told not to expect much of anything. They suggested I keep my eye open on craigslist, ebay and pawn shop websites for my computer. So if anyone sees a Dell Inspiron 5100 up for sale, let me know!
It sucks, because I lost a bunch of pictures that were on the computer. Lame. It also sucks to know that someone has gone through my house. What a gross feeling.
| I got a new car!!!!! (but in dark blue) | | |
| I just got back from a wonderful 24 hours in Seattle with my friend Adam (who better re-bookmark my blog now that I've given him a shout-out!!). We went down to see Feist play, but decided to take the day off of school/work in order to have fun down in Seattle too. Feist was an amazing performer, with an even better voice live than on her cds. She made a very odd and distracting choice of a visual background to her music, but that was my only complaint about the show. She played a bunch of songs from her second album (Let It Die), which was great, because I like it better than her current album.
Heading down to Seattle meant that we also got to visit and stay overnight with Amber and Nate. As an awesome bonus, I also got to pick Amber up from her school and got to wander around the Special Education classroom where she is the head teacher. It was neat to see all the strategies she was using for these kids, and all the resources available to them!

Adam and I went shopping, and I impulse-bought a Nintendo DS! I've loved it since I played Brain Age on my cousin's DS a couple of months ago. And, because I bought in the States, I paid about 70% of what I would've paid for it in Canada. Hurray! Regardless, it was quite a huge impulse buy! But I'm really, really excited!
In unrelated news, I'm starting an elimination diet today. Due to new allergies popping up, I have to remove almost all foods from my diet for five days, then systematically re-introduce foods in order to figure out what food families are causing me problems. I'm excited to get some answers, but am not excited to cook entirely without any spice other than salt for the next 3ish weeks. Here's the list of foods I am allowed to have to start off with:
-turkey, lamb -rice -skinned potatoes -canned (but not in syrup): peaches, cherries, apricots, nectarines, plums, prunes -yams (canned or fresh) -fresh lettuce -canned or fresh spinach -olive or saflo oil -cranberries/blueberries (fresh okay) -salt
Ugh.... I have a feeling I'm going to be a little grumpy the next few weeks.
